Skull Face by KellyZak Skull Face by KellyZak
This piece I've made from the very start.
Sculpted it out and molded it.
It's a foam latex piece I've applied to myself with a bald cap. Painted with PAX.
Contacts are the screen white contacts (which I blurred a bit when I imported the photo off the camera to give a more white out effect due to the picture being such a close up).
I can open and close my mouth and move my face, as well as breath through both my nose and my mouth. Because the contacts are screen white lenses I can more or less see (of course I normally have a prescription so everything's a little blurry) and I can hear pretty much fine (just the bald cap over my ears). I can speak, although in order to create the dimension the piece is a little thick on the lower jaw, making what I say sound a little distorted.
Let me know what you think!

I would go to a nursing home wearing this and just sit at a table in the cafeteria and eat some food while watching the horrified reactions on the elderly. Lol

It's great to still see people experimenting as much with foam latex in the cgi laden times we live in.Great texture and paint apps,I love the way it meshes with your face.It reminds me a bit of the Skeletor makeup used forn the Masters of the Universe movie in that they seemed to use a foam latex mask on that actor too.:) [link]

Thank you, and I can see the resemblance a bit, I did use anatomy pictures and reference to help create the shape.

Quite welcome,ooh... let me say I hope that comment did'nt sound like"you ripped off this makeup blah blah blah, see the resemblance there?"hahaha if it did I am really sorry.hahaha It's a beautiful sculpt!Does it glue to the back of your neck , to the skull cap?Always loved the Planet of the Apes facial appliances, for they sculpted them in two or three seperate pieces enabling the actors to move their mouths.I guess they used a very thin foam rubber for the durability around the jawline...excuse me I am rambling XD.[link]

It didn't, I just thought I'd mention I did use references because I'm not quite that skilled to sculpt anatomy by memory lol
The bald cap goes all the way around my head, the sculpt goes to about the ears (it depends on the model's head size)
and I would love to make a character that has multiple pieces (or really thin edges) in the areas around the eyes/mouth/ect to create better movement but for this piece in order to create the dimension with the nose being hollow I had to have it physically be further away from the face, making it more like a mask (although around the mouth where the teeth fade out it is an extremely thin edge so the mouth can move easily)
And I don't mind the rambling, I have a tendency to ramble myself lol

Ahh,I see! What's that you say? This is a rambling zone?Super! ;)I'll carry on then haha yeah, thin pieces like that have to be tricky to apply as well. The Heath Ledger Joker makeup consisted of(besides the scars obviously) a very thin appliance that fit over his forehead creating that scowling, wrinkled brow.
BTW I just visited your website, and your film is fantastic.I loved the editing!

Haha yeah ramblings fine, sorry if it takes a while to reply I haven't had internet access in a while and I'm catching up on all my internet things. Yeah when I saw the Joker's make-up I figured for continuity and general wear away over a production shoot the forehead wrinkles had to be an appliance as well. Just enough that the makeup would stay and create dimensions but thin enough to allow the natural movements to show through.
Thank you! I worked hard on editing it, but editing is far from my strength lol I'm more makeup effects & cinematography

I must ask you this,if you had to choose one movie..just one. What would be your least favorite Horro film and your one most favorite?Any era.

oh man, choose just one horror film? That's ridiculously hard, but I'd probably say for horror (pure horror, not dark comedy styles or any related thriller types [ex:I wouldn't count Battle Royale, Silence of the Lambs, ect.]) would be the original Halloween by John Carpenter, I absolutely love his works (Closely followed by Wes Craven's Nightmare on Elm Street). My least favorite would probably be one of the various remakes that keep happening, generally I avoid seeing them but I did see the house of wax remake and really didn't care for it, even though Jared Padalecki (of Supernatural) was in it.

I'm curious to see how it would turn out with eyes closed; To see how close the makeup comes to projecting a hollow or empty sense. It's well put together piece, I must say. I was REALLY impressed with the nose. Is it a cavity piece resting on top of your own nose or an optical illusion?

Well done, and I hope to see more. Quite glad your stuff came up featured or I don't think I'd get to see such excellent makeup work.
Cheers.

The cavity piece is resting on top of my nose, that's why towards the bottom I used such a dark black to hide the fact that I'm actually able to breath out of the piece. It took a while to figure out a way to construct the overall piece so that I was able to create a hollow spot on the one place on the face that sticks out the most, but I think I managed to make it work.
I wish I took some photos with my eyes closed now, I'm interested as well in how it would look but there's not much I can do about that now until I apply the piece again.
thank you! I plan to keep coming up with concepts and executing them, so hopefully I'll create more work worth featuring :)
